Gloria Allred fighting for survivors of abuse by Bill Cosby

She is fierce, she is fearless, she’s a firebrand, a force for the rights of women.

And she’s just won another case for another woman.

Attorney Gloria Allred has been supporting and fighting for survivors of abuse by disgraced comedian Bill Cosby for years.

Yesterday a jury in California found Cosby guilty of sexually assaulting Judy Huth when she was just 16 years old at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 - she was a child.

Allred is a leading figure on the frontline of feminism in the United States - it’s her work, it’s her life, it’s her identity - and she has achieved enormous change for women.

Attorney Gloria Allred joined Tova to discuss the case.

Allred hopes the outcome of the case means others come forward.

"Victims shouldn't have the courthouse door slammed in their face just because it happened a long time ago, and the accuser should have a right to at least have her day in court."

Following the case result yesterday, Tova asked Allred if the victory resonated with other survivors as well.

"There were many accusers of Bill Cosby who were present when the verdict was read yesterday. They went outside and were so happy…they were thrilled with our victory.

"Mr Cosby hired countless attorneys over the years, this case has been litigated for seven and a half years, till it finally went to trial.

"Although he spent unknown amounts of money, hiring so many top-notch attorneys, they were unable to defeat us.

"It was a David versus Goliath or Davina versus Goliath type of battle."

"In the end, the jury found that we proved that Bill Cosby sexually battered, in other words, sexually assaulted Judy Huth when she was only 16 years old at the Playboy Mansion in Southern California."
